About the course

This course is designed to provide you with the essential knowledge needed to succeed as a member of the Practice by Numbers (PbN) team. Because our product delivers software solutions for dental practices across North America, you must master the fundamental processes of the dental industry to effectively support our customers and understand where our software adds value.



*This training is mandatory for all new employees, especially those from a non-clinical or non-dental background.

Lesson 1 Overview

This lesson walks through the essential seven-stage dental lifecycle, from initial contact to long-term maintenance, providing the clinical foundation for our product. You will learn key procedures like Prophylaxis (D1110) and identify when a General Practitioner must refer complex cases, such as root canals or surgical extractions, to a specialist. Mastering this clinical workflow is key to understanding the administrative data we process.

Lesson 2 Overview

This module shifts focus to the administrative and technical reality of running a dental office, detailing the purpose of every Practice by Numbers (PbN) module. You will learn how PbN tools like the Ops Board, Revenue Cycle Analytics, and Reactivation Campaigns solve operational challenges. Furthermore, we outline the critical differences in billing (CDT vs. Provincial Fee Guides) and privacy (HIPAA vs. PIPEDA/PHIPA) required for North American compliance.

Knowledge check

This mandatory final assessment consists of 10 multiple-choice questions designed to validate your knowledge of clinical terminology, PbN module application, and regional regulatory differences. As per company standards, you must achieve a score of 85% (9 out of 10 correct answers) to pass the course, with instant feedback provided after each attempt. Your proficiency here confirms your readiness to support dental practices effectively.
